House of the Black Virgin - Cubism Czech Museum - National Galley

Art in its rightful place.
The House of the Black Virgin is a cubist building designed by architect Josef Gocár who was commissioned by the tradesman Frantisek Josef Herbst between 1911 and 1912. The statue of a Black Virgin nestled in one of the corners of the monument explains the name of the building. The building houses the Czech cubism museum on the 3rd and 4th floor, which exhibits the works of artists from the beginning of the movement until the 50s.
